A fun way to incorporate the nativity scenes of Jesus in your homeschool is to get fun nativity coloring pages, with detailed designs. Inspire them to color pictures with their favorite colors, meanwhile you tell them the story about the Child Jesus, which is the real reason for celebrating the days of Christmas.

In Matthew 1:23, it says: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” You can start off by reading the story about the birth of Jesus Christ for your children, and then give them the printable nativity scenes and a coloring pencil of own choice so they can start coloring the Jesus coloring pages.

In Isaiah 9:6, it says:
“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

The nativity scene coloring page is perfect for younger children. While you tell the kids about the story of Christmas, kids of all ages can engage by listening to you.

Christmas Time: The Gatherings

The best things (what I enjoy the most) about Christmas are the gatherings. We are gathered around the table, gathered around the Christmas Tree, gathered together in church and gathered together at home. The family is together, enjoying being together in a Christmas Spirit. This is the time of the year where we can nurture our relationships a little extra.

At the Christmas season we want our children to learn the Christmas story. When you are gathered around the Christmas tree, tell them about Jesus and why He came to this earth. Teach them a little here and a little there. It takes time for kids to learn and understand. They will not learn everything at once. You could also start a conversation with your kids. Below are some tips on what to talk about when you are together.

Things to talk about when you have a gathering:

  1. Why was Jesus born on this earth?
  2. What impact does that have on us, that He came to live among us?
  3. What value does God place on us and how do we value each other?
  4. How did God demonstrate His love by giving His son to the earth?

What kind of gatherings do you and your family enjoy the most? Think of ways of preparing for a gathering together and write it down in your calender. You can use the printable pdf coloring pages or have these questions at hand when you have a gathering. It is never too late to create great gathering memories together. If you are not use to have gatherings, start this year and create a new family habit together.

The little things

It is oftentimes the little things that make Christmas so special. My children love decorating the house before Christmas. They have many great ideas on how to do it. Creating their own decoration is a perfect way to engage them in decoration preparation. Older kids might need a more challenging activity

Instead of coloring the nativity story, older kids might need a more challenging activity . A fun activity for them might be creating their own nativity coloring book. Ideas for them to draw could be about the Christmas angels, Jesus baby in the crib, Mary and Joseph on their way to Betlehem or The Three wise men. They could also add bible verses to their coloring pages. Inspire your children to create something of their own and help them to have much fun with it.

5 Tips on How to reduce Holiday Stress

Christmas time can easily become stressful for parents. Here you have 5 tips on how to reduce Holiday Stress in your home:

  1. Plan ahead. By planning, writing it down on paper you can easily see what needs to be done and do not become overwhelmed by it.
  2. Do not put too high expectations. We easily compare ourselves with others or what we see on TV and think that we need to have all the things in order to have great Christmas. By diminshing the expectations, you will reduce the pressure you put on yourself.
  3. Do not do everything at once. Spread all your preparations over a longer period of time.
  4. If possible, delegate work that needs to be done to others.
