52-Week Bible Reading Plan for Busy Moms

My dear friend, I want you to know that it truly is possible to read through the entire Bible in one year—and to continue doing so, year after year. This goal is not impossible, nor is it too difficult to fit into your daily life. With a simple plan, a little commitment, and plenty of grace, reading the Bible can become a natural and life-giving part of your everyday routine.

Perhaps you have tried before but struggled to keep going. Maybe life became busy, you missed a few days, or you reached a difficult book and lost your motivation. If so, please do not be discouraged. You are not alone, and falling behind does not mean that you have failed. Every new day is another opportunity to open your Bible and begin again.

Read along with me, and let me share what I have learned. My hope is that you will leave this page feeling encouraged, hopeful, and at peace as you move forward. You are not simply trying to complete a reading plan—you are building and establishing a meaningful habit, one that can deepen your faith, strengthen your relationship with God, and stay with you for the rest of your life.

You do not have to do everything perfectly. You only need to take one faithful step at a time. Open your Bible, begin where you are, and allow God’s Word to meet you there.

Bible Reading Plan Designed Just for Busy Moms

This daily reading plan is designed for all my fellow moms! It has a beautiful design and is clear and easy to understand. I wanted to create a one-page plan, which meant that the text needed to be small and the layout very organized. As a busy mom myself, I need things to be well organized and easy to use.

I also love feminine colors and designs. They help me feel more positive about the plan and inspire me to follow it all the way through. Because it is a one-page plan, it fits perfectly inside your Bible and is easy to keep there. You will not need to look for it because it will be right there in God’s Word.

6 Ways to Build a Bible Reading Habit Around Kids

  1. Wake up before the kids. This is what works for me. Having quiet time in the morning is gold. My brain needs a time of day when everything is completely quiet and I am not expected to do housework, clean, or take care of other tasks. During this quiet time, I can understand the text more easily and pray as I read. Let me be clear, though: if you are in a season of living in a newborn fog, do not put pressure on yourself to wake up early. Just sleep whenever you can!
  2. Listen to the Bible through a Bible app. The app I use is YouVersion. I usually listen to it when I am alone in the car and driving a longer distance. This allows me to listen to several chapters and sometimes complete a few days of reading in just one car ride!
  3. Listen to the Word of God while taking a walk, either with the stroller or by yourself. Nature is so healing for us, and taking a walk makes it even better! It does not have to take much time. Think of spending 15–20 minutes with God, learning more about His love and reflecting as you breathe in the fresh air. This can provide a welcome break from any burdens you may be carrying from life at home.
  4. Keep a positive mindset about your reading. If you believe that reading the Bible in one year is impossible, it may become impossible for you. Instead, remind yourself that even though you have a busy life, you can still have devotional time on a regular basis. Begin to believe that completing the 52-week plan is possible.
  5. Be consistent. It is okay to take a break for a few days, but I want to warn you that taking several weeks off may make it very difficult to complete the plan in November and December. This has happened to me, and I learned that I would not do it again because it is not enjoyable to feel stressed during the final month of the year. You also want to read at your own pace instead of hurrying through the text, because rushing can cause you to miss the point. Reading biblical truth is meant to help you connect with Jesus; it is not simply another task on your to-do list.
  6. Read in the order you prefer. Just because you are following a reading plan does not mean that you have to read everything in the order in which it is written. I personally love choosing what I want to read each day. I also enjoy reading an entire book before moving on to another one. This helps me see the bigger picture and understand the book more deeply. I would not gain the same understanding if I read from a book in the Old Testament one day and then switched to a book in the New Testament the next day.

Bonus: Choose a dedicated place for your Bible. Keeping your Bible, pens, and reading plan together in one place can be very helpful for busy moms. For example, having everything ready on the kitchen table allows you to begin right away instead of spending time looking for everything in the morning.

Complete the Bible in a Year Without Losing Your Mind

I want to encourage you to try the different methods I suggested above—or to find another method that fits perfectly into your schedule. Whatever works for you, go with it. You could also read the chapters with your older children, using your own reading plan as devotional time with them.

Combining the things that need to get done is always a win for us moms, right? Remember, this is not a sprint. It is a year-long journey that you need to balance with everything else in your everyday life.

Do not stress about it. Instead, experiment and find a time, place, and method that work for you. This reading plan will help you grow spiritually as you come to know God more deeply, understand His plan for us, and discover how truly He loves us.

It can also be helpful to keep a Bible commentary nearby, because you will probably come across some difficult chapters—especially in the Old Testament. I still struggle with understanding some of the stories. That is why it can be helpful to seek guidance from Bible commentaries, pastors, and friends. Taking the time to discuss and understand these passages will help you in the long run.

Next year, when you read the same passages again, you will gain new insights and develop a deeper understanding of the text. Believe me, that is an amazing feeling!

So, dear mother, do not lose heart. You can do this! Find your Bible, decide which translation you want to read, print out this plan, get your pens ready, and choose a place on your kitchen counter where you can keep everything within reach. Then you will be ready to begin!

Keep a steady pace, and if needed, ask someone to help keep you accountable—or invite a friend to follow the plan with you. That way, you can discuss the difficult chapters and support one another along the way.

Enjoy this journey and experience God’s grace through His Word. Looking for even more powerful encouragement from the Bible? Read more here.
