Color Word Activities: Kindergarten Color Words Worksheets
Homeschooling your preschooler can be both enjoyable and fun. My experience as a homeschooling mother to 4 children, is that preschooler love to learn and love to sit in your lap (for shorter period of time), or near you and listen to your voice. Some days, the children are busy playing, and when they are, I try not interrupt them, because I see playing as an important part of their education and development. When children play, they are working a lot and thinking through different problems that they need to work through. Yet, I always aim to spend some quality time with my preschooler each day.

Read to Them & Develop Good Habits
It is important for kindergarten kids to spend time with you every day. My aim is to have devotions with the kids each morning and read some educational books for them as well. That way, they begin their life with developing good habits and routines. Reading to them every day, helps them learn the alphabeth and helps them to eventually learning how to to read for themselves. That way, I do not have to worry about them learning how to read. If I read to them, they will learn to read themselves, and they will also develop love for books and learning.
Be Aware When They Are Ready
When the child is ready for more, I ususally go with the flow. I try not to say “no, not now” when the child is asking for help or guidance. I see every intrest as a learning opportunity. Kindergarten students do not need to learn a lot when they are at this stage of life. That is to say, formal learning. But that does not mean that they cannot learn anything. You can always talk together and learn about things and life. I would though leave the pressure at this age, because young children do not thrive under pressure.

Learning The Colors
I am excited to show you my printable worksheet for the early learners that you can find at the bottom of this page! One of the many fundamental skills you want your younger kids to learn is to learn the colors. The printable colors worksheet at the bottom of the page are a fun way for the little child to learn the color names, find the correct color and exercise their fine motor skills. At first the child needs to learn the basic colors and then adding on more colors for later learning. Learning colors can be hard work but also enjoyable and a fun experience for your child. For more fun and engaging worksheets for the preschooler, check my previous post Pumpkin Preschool Activities: Learning from Nature.

Children learn very fast. They usually have their favorite color that they know very well. You can start off with a worksheet with a color they recognize and love. That makes the learning process more enjoyable for you and your child. We should invite the children into our world, let them feel that they are a part of the desicion making, because it that will make learning attractive and will help them to have an engaging experience.
Examples of How to Teach the Names of Colors for Kids
There are a variety of ways of how to teach the colors. You do not need worksheets at all when you start teaching a preschooler. Have a conversation with your child in daily life. Your life is a daily “kindergarten classroom” for your child. Everything you do together and talk about is a learning activity.

For example, when you eat together you can talk about the many different colors that are on your child’s plate. This helps them to enhance their color recognition skills. And as I mentioned before, when the child is interested and active listening, you should take an advantage of that and make a learning experience at that moment. When the child is interested, you do not need to inspire and do all the work. The child will learn, with you just being present, being responsive and warm to your child.
As you can see, there are many fun activities to engage your child in, when learning different colors. Another fun activity is to talk about the childs’ teddy bear before bedtime. Is it a brown bear? Is it a yellow bear? Talk about the different colors that are on the teddy bear and ask the child question about the different colors.
