Create Warm Memories This Easter
I’m not the type of person who enjoys crafting, but my kids love it (well, some of them do). So, I bought Easter crafts for them. I also got Easter eggs that I’ll hide on Easter morning. My goal is for them to have happy Easter memories. Tasty food and candy definitely have their place, but I believe that the time we spend together creates the best memories. We all need a break, and being together—slowing down and just enjoying each other’s company—is what truly matters.
I often find that if I take the time to prepare a good dinner, buy some crafts, or invite friends over, it creates wonderful memories for us to look back on. Similarly, if you take the time to prepare Easter baskets, print Easter egg coloring pages, or search the internet for free printable Easter cards, the effort will often bring great rewards. In this case, it will lead to hours of collaborative coloring fun!
Also, remember to spread some Easter cheer by speaking kindly and lovingly to one another (Ephesians 4:29).
Why Easter Celebration?
Let me share why we celebrate Easter. We love all the traditions, Easter egg hunts, Easter decorations, and all that stuff (even though we seldom decorate). In Iceland, we have this tradition of eating chocolate eggs with candy inside, but in Sweden, we have paper-eggs filled with candy inside of them. We usually hide the eggs inside or outside our house on Sunday morning and then the kids look for them. This is a fun tradition that all of us enjoy.
I would say, however, that there is a broader definition of the term Easter. The real meaning behind Easter is not just the adorable Easter bunnies, paper crafts, or the fun of an Easter egg hunt (even though that is a lot of fun and an important activity for the kids). I believe it is important to teach our children the true meaning behind the Easter celebration—that is, if you are a believer. I have always been a believer, and I’ve been very blessed over the years to have God in my life, giving me hope and peace. The more personal experience I have with God, the deeper the relationship unfolds.

Jesus, our Lord and Savior, came to this world to give us hope and save us from evil. He came to give us a second chance. In the beginning, he created everything perfect and good! There was no evil when God created the earth, no sorrow, and no pain. It is very difficult to imagine how it was in the beginning because our reality is full of difficulties, struggles, and sorrow.
The Easter Celebration is about how important YOU are! You are the reason that God sent his only begotten son to die on the cross. Do you see where I am going? God loves you! And grasp this, He had made up His mind to save you even before you were born. I know, this is very difficult for us to understand. There is so much love from God in a world where there is so much existing evil.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (NKJV). This is how God gives and cares about you! When Jesus comes back again, He will wipe away every tear, and the evil will be no more a reality in our world. In Revelation 21:4 it says: “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” NKJV.
These two verses are so crucial for us to understand that I have taught my children to know these Bible verses by heart. It is so important to have this in mind: The evil that you see in this world right now will come to an end. There is an end to all of this, and God has a plan and has already conquered the world. Our job is to hang in there, not turning our back to God. Wait, believe, and hope. Jesus will soon return.

John 16:33 says: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (NKJV).
Be of good cheer! Jesus has overcome the world! God loves you very much!
